Detmold, Germany - The city of Detmold has announced a series of information events leading up to the election of the Integration Council, scheduled for September. These events aim to provide residents with valuable insights into the council's work and the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.

The first event will take place on May 14th at the Reconciliation Church on Hiddeser Berg, Martin-Luther-Straße 39. This will be followed by another event on May 15th at the Kleingaertnerverein Kampwiese in Detmold-Herberhausen. The third event is scheduled for June 11th at the city portal's meeting center, Paulinenstraße 65. The last event will be held on June 12th at the AWO in Heidenoldendorf in the old primary school, Niedernfeldweg 6.

The Integration Council, a key advisory body, represents the interests of Detmold residents with a migration background. It advises the city council and administration, organizes its own events, and cooperates with the State Integration Council. The council also focuses on anti-discrimination work, educational themes for children with a migration background, and dialogue between cultures.

It is important to note that foreign nationals, stateless persons, naturalized persons, Germans with dual citizenship, and Germans who acquired citizenship by birth in Germany are eligible to vote in the Integration Council election. Detmold residents of any origin, aged at least 18 and having their primary residence in Detmold for at least three months, can be elected to the Integration Council.

The election of the Integration Council was first held five years ago, marking a significant step in fostering inclusivity and representation within the city's governance. These upcoming information events offer a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the council and engage in the democratic process.
