Need for Forbearance: A Reminder - "Waiting is essential" - Heino bolsters Merz's support base

In the heart of Cologne, the German Press Agency recently had a unique visitor – 86-year-old musician Heino. The iconic figure expressed his support for Friedrich Merz, the current Chancellor of Germany, who took office on May 6, 2025, leading the black-red government that has been in office since May.

Heino, a long-standing supporter of Merz's party, campaigned for the CDU in the Bundestag election. The black-red government, under Chancellor Merz, is the new federal government that Heino is referring to.

The musician believes that the new government, led by a black-red coalition under Chancellor Merz, is determined to address the issues facing Germany. He urges the public not to view the new government pessimistically, but to give it credit for its efforts.

However, recent polls, such as the ARD-"Germany Trend" poll from August, indicate that the public may not be as optimistic. Only 29 percent of respondents were satisfied with the coalition's work, a decrease of 10 percentage points from the previous month.

Heino acknowledges this dissatisfaction, but emphasises the need for patience. He compares the work of the new government to the extraction of a child from a well – a process that requires time and care.

The musician also made a comment about wanting Scholz and Habeck to leave office, but he stresses that the 16 years of Angela Merkel's rule cannot be undone overnight. Heino believes that the new government is facing a challenging task, but he remains hopeful for its success.
