Warehouse utterly destroyed by fire
A fire broke out in a warehouse of a car dismantler in Bottrop on Thursday afternoon, at approximately 4:45 PM. The Bottrop Fire Department, along with several volunteer fire departments, responded to the incident and worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze.
Upon arrival, the fire was already fully engulfed. To combat the fire, the Bottrop Fire Department utilised their fire engine, as well as the B-pipe, four C-pipes, and the turntable ladder's monitor. The volunteer fire departments from Altstadt, Kirchhellen, Boy, Vonderort, Feldhausen, and Grafenwald were also on duty, providing additional support.
The Fire Department Bottrop has initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire. In the meantime, a firewall was implemented to protect neighbouring buildings from the heavy smoke and potential spread of the fire. The population was warned via the NINA warning app due to the heavy smoke.
The incident required increased coordination in the control center, which was staffed with on-call personnel. Two people were lightly injured while trying to extinguish the fire, and they were treated by emergency services and transported to a local hospital. Approximately 70 people were involved in the firefighting operation.
The Fire Department Bottrop would like to remind the public to stay clear of the area and follow any instructions given by emergency services personnel. For inquiries, contact the Fire Department Bottrop Press Office: Telephone: 02041 / 7803-115, Email: [email protected].
