Warrants executed at Cologne Bonn Airport over the weekend, resulting in several arrests by BPOL NRW authorities
In a series of events over the weekend, the Federal Police at Cologne Bonn Airport executed four arrest warrants. Among those apprehended were three individuals wanted for evading imprisonment by paying a substitute sentence, and a 50-year-old Turkish man who was stopped during entry control from Istanbul last Saturday.
The Turkish man, who had a warrant for preventive detention issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Nuremberg-Fürth, was sentenced to six months in prison for driving without a license in May 2024. The enforcement of the sentence was suspended for three years on probation, but the man gave a false address to evade probation supervision and traveled abroad, resulting in a flight risk. His entry ended in the Cologne Police Custody Service.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old German was also asked to pay at the airport for driving without a license, as the German's driver's license had been revoked by the Bonn Road Traffic Office. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Koblenz demanded four days in prison or 507 EUR from the German.
On the same day, a 31-year-old Moldovan citizen was controlled by the Federal Police at Cologne Bonn Airport and required to pay 1500 EUR for violating the Narcotics Act. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Würzburg demanded the payment or alternatively 15 days in prison from the Moldovan citizen.
Interestingly, another individual managed to avoid imprisonment by paying 1000 EUR to the Serbian authorities before departing to Antalya. However, the Public Prosecutor's Office in Kiel issued the arrest warrant for the Serbian. On August 8, 2025, the Federal Police at Cologne Bonn Airport discovered a wanted notice for a 40-year-old Serbian for forgery.
One man was handcuffed by the Federal Police at the airport, while the man traveling to Antalya on Saturday was a German. There is no publicly available information identifying a 50-year-old Turkish man who was arrested last Saturday and previously held in pre-trial detention in Nürnberg-Fürth due to flight risk.
The incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of adhering to the law and the consequences that can arise from attempting to evade legal consequences.
