Was it necessary for Oettinger, previous manager of a real estate firm that went bankrupt, to assume responsibility?
The Green Group, a Leipzig-based real estate developer, is currently facing insolvency, and the situation has taken a turn for the dramatic as liability claims have been lodged against several prominent figures.
According to reports, the insolvency administrator's confidential report, sent to the Leipzig district court responsible for the insolvency, mentions significant liability claims against members of the management board and supervisory board of the Green Group. Among those named are Günther Oettinger, former Minister President of Baden-Württemberg and CDU politician, who served as the chairman of the supervisory board, and Ronald Pofalla, another CDU politician who previously served on the board of the Green Group after his time at Deutsche Bahn.
The liability claims are due to the approval of loans exceeding 200 million euros without collateral or secured repayment options. This revelation has sparked a flurry of media attention, with the Handelsblatt and the online platform Business Insider reporting on the potential liability claims against Oettinger and Pofalla.
Several banks in Baden-Württemberg, including Sparkasse Heidelberg, Volksbank - Die Gestalterbank based in Offenburg, and VR-Bank Ludwigsburg, are affected by the Green insolvency with claims in the millions. Sparkasse Heidelberg, for instance, has claims of 52 million euros against the Green Group.
However, neither Oettinger nor Pofalla have commented on the report and liability claims to the Handelsblatt. Christoph Green, the founder of the Green Group, has sharply criticized the insolvency administrator and the media on LinkedIn. Green claims that his holding company, the current Green Group GmbH, is not over-indebted.
Green states that he does not know the report and has not had the opportunity to comment, submit exonerating documents, or correct facts. He is likely a representative of one of the affected banks, as Jürgen Schmidt, who can be contacted at the phone number 0711 66601-147 and email address j.schmidt@our website, is believed to be a representative of such a bank.
The insolvency administrator, on the other hand, has not yet fulfilled his legal task of maintaining and continuing operations but is working on dismantling the corporate group, according to Green. This means that the future of the Green Group and those involved in its management remains uncertain.
As the situation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the complex web of relationships and financial dealings that led to the insolvency of the Green Group and the potential liability claims against its former leaders.
