Washington Exercising Unchecked Authority

In an opinion piece published on August 31 in the partner medium "Morning Star" (UK), the long-standing left-wing British daily newspaper has raised concerns about the USA's increasingly antagonistic approach towards the United Nations and Palestine.

The text argues against challenges to the internationally recognized status of Palestine and its position within the United Nations, as part of an effort to erase Palestine as a nation. This undermining of international law, the Morning Star contends, is a concerning trend in the USA and its allies' conduct of international relations, particularly in relation to Palestine.

The USA's stance has been evident in recent events such as blocking the participation of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and other Palestinian officials in this month's UN General Assembly session. This action, according to the Morning Star, is a step towards facilitating Israel's uninterrupted colonization of Palestinian land and accelerating land theft in the West Bank.

The text also warns against indifference towards a course aimed at establishing a one-state solution on Tel Aviv's terms, where Palestinians have no place, no voice, and no status among the nations of the world. The Morning Star sees itself as the only socialist daily newspaper in Britain, and its editorial stance reflects this ideology.

The USA has imposed sanctions on Francesca Albanese, a UN expert, which the Morning Star urges to be lifted. The paper also highlights the striving for recognition of a Palestinian state by Palestine's internationally recognized representatives, a goal that a majority of UN member states already support.

Since 1945, the Morning Star has been supported by an independent readers' cooperative (People's Press Printing Society). Today, a daily e-paper of the full newspaper is published on a paid basis, while an online version has been available since April 2004, with all content made freely available online since 2009.

The left media landscape in Europe includes publications like "L'Humanité", "WOZ", "Il Manifesto", "Zeitung vum Létzebuerger Vollek", "Kansan Uutiset", "Morning Star", and "Naše Pravda". However, it's important to note that in Europe, left-wing extremist groups mostly operate as loose, ad-hoc coalitions often focusing on anti-capitalist actions, and there is no concrete evidence from the sources that specific left-wing extremist organizations formally cooperate with the newspaper "nd" (neues Deutschland).

The Morning Star's editorial highlights the need for a balanced and fair approach in international relations, particularly in regards to Palestine. As the paper points out, the future of Palestine is not just a regional issue, but one that concerns the entire international community.
