Heavy Rain and Emergency Response in Southern Konstanz County

On a rainy August 21, 2025, southern Konstanz county experienced persistent downpours that caused flooding and subsequent incidents in two separate locations: Gaienhofen and Moos.

In Gaienhofen, heavy rain led to flooding that washed away oil heating tanks, necessitating consultation from the authorities. The oil spill advisor was promptly called to the scene in the afternoon, and the clean-up operation was concluded shortly before midnight.

Meanwhile, in Moos, a leaked heating oil spill occurred due to flooding. The oil spill team from the Konstanz Fire Department was swiftly alerted and worked diligently to contain the spill. The spill was successfully contained, and the affected area was cleaned up, preventing any significant environmental damage.

The Konstanz Fire Department was kept busy on this day, with the fallen tree on the K6172 also requiring attention. The department, along with the Wollmatingen department, worked tirelessly to remove the tree and address the numerous flooded basements throughout the city area. A total of 20 basements were pumped out using submersible pumps and water suckers.

The Bodanrück and the Höri communities were also affected by the heavy rain, but fortunately, no further incidents were reported.

Despite the numerous challenges faced on August 21, 2025, the Konstanz Fire Department rose to the occasion, demonstrating their commitment to keeping the community safe and well-protected. The identity of the fire chief on this day remains unknown, but their leadership undoubtedly played a crucial role in the successful resolution of these incidents.
