Weekend Arrests: BPOLI LUD Individuals in Custody

In a series of incidents along the German-Polish border, several individuals have been apprehended by the Federal Police Inspection Ludwigsdorf for various offenses.

Last week, a 32-year-old Polish citizen was arrested near Görlitz train station for driving a BMW despite having a multi-month driving ban and a driving ban in Germany. The individual was also reported for suspected driving without a license. The arrest came after the person had been denied entry and sent back to Poland due to exceeding the permitted tourist stay duration and an expired residence permit.

On the same day, around 4:00 PM, a different Polish citizen was caught at Görlitz station. This individual lacked the 150 euros needed to pay a fine, and an investigation was launched against them for suspected violation of the Freedom of Movement Act.

On Friday evening, a 41-year-old Polish man was arrested near the Görlitz train station. The arrest warrant for this individual, issued by the Prosecutor's Office in SaarbrĂŒcken nearly eight years ago, had gone unnoticed. The 41-year-old began serving an 18-day remaining prison sentence immediately after his arrest, which had been imposed by the SaarbrĂŒcken Local Court for aggravated theft.

On Sunday, three individuals (two Polish nationals aged 24 and 27, and a Ukrainian aged 32) were detained during the temporarily reinstated border controls at the Neiße rest area on the motorway. A 62-year-old driver was also stopped on the A4 motorway and had an outstanding 60 euro fine.

In a separate incident, a 27-year-old Polish national settled their own debt, which was being awaited by the SaarbrĂŒcken Court Cashier for theft. Meanwhile, the Munich Foreigners' Authority had revoked the Polish citizen's right to enter and reside in Germany in summer 2023.

Lastly, a 32-year-old Polish individual was released after paying a total of 2,262.60 euros for a conviction of driving under the influence (Nördlingen Regional Court). The Polish citizen should not have entered Germany until November 2032, and an investigation was launched against them for suspected violation of the Residence Act.
