Over the long Labor Day weekend last week, Chicago witnessed a spate of gun violence that left at least 58 people injured, eight of whom lost their lives.

On Saturday morning, a man was shot dead on the city's West Side. The identity of the victim remains unknown, but he was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body and died at the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the Austin neighborhood shooting is under investigation.

Later on Saturday, another fatal shooting occurred on the city's Southwest Side. A 26-year-old man was shot to death near a CTA station at around 5:30 a.m. No information is available about who was responsible for the shooting.

The violence continued into Sunday, with a 31-year-old man shot dead during a dispute in the night before last Friday on 13th Street and Michigan Avenue. The victim was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The details of this incident, including the identity of the perpetrator, remain unclear.

In another incident on Sunday, a 32-year-old man was shot several times in the 4800 block of West Fulton Street. The shooting happened in the Lawndale neighborhood's 3000-block of West Polk Street just before 10:15 a.m. The victim died at the scene.

Friday night saw a shooting at a business near East 13th Street and Michigan Avenue around 9:30 p.m. A South Loop business employee fatally shot a man during a fight. The victim was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

By Sunday evening, Chicago police were investigating another deadly shooting in the Austin neighborhood. Details about this incident are scarce, and no further information on the shootings this weekend was available as police continue to investigate the cases.
