Weekend of captivating summer events, highlighted by music and rubber-duck competition
Bad Wurzach, Germany, played host to a lively city festival over the weekend, drawing in visitors from far and wide.
The festival kicked off on Saturday morning with the official opening, marked by the tapping of a keg on the Market Street/Herrn Street stage. Christiane Vincon-Westermayer, chairperson of the HGV and from Optik Westermayer, had the honour of performing this traditional ritual. After the keg tapping, Mayor Alexandra Scherer and Christiane Vincon-Westermayer raised a toast to the spectators from the stage.
As the sun rose higher in the sky, around 11 am, guests began to appear in summer attire. Vendors set up stalls and food trucks around Market Street, offering a variety of items for sale, from Barbie dolls and clothing to household items, curiosities, handmade crafts, and even a mystery box.
As the afternoon wore on, a brief shower set in, but it didn't deter visitors. Many guests likely earned blisters on their feet from all the strolling on Market Street.
The city festival featured culinary delights like cheese spaetzle, herb dumplings, vegan chips, and sweet treats. Visitors sought shade to watch the fashion show due to the sunny weather. On Sunday, a fashion show was held featuring the autumn-winter collection from Modehaus Michelberger and Binder.
Entertainment was not in short supply at the festival, with two bands, "The Cheaters" and "Pink Planets", performing on different stages. The five-member band "Pink Planets" played hits from the 80s, Neue Deutsche Welle, and party mixes on the Market Street/Herrn Street stage.
The highlight of the festival, however, was the rubber duck race organized by Volksbank AllgΓ€u-Oberschwaben. Numerous yellow ducks competed in the race, which started at the Luxeuil Bridge and culminated on the Wurzacher Ach. One duck won the race by a landslide, with the proceeds benefiting the Bad Wurzach youth fire brigade.
As evening approached, more people arrived to enjoy the festival, watch the bands, or spend time with friends and family. The festival was a resounding success, providing a fun-filled weekend for all who attended.
