"Weekend Opening of Downtown Businesses Embraces Variety": Weekend operations extended at downtown offices and stores, promoting diversity in business.

The city of Solingen was set to celebrate its 650th anniversary with the Diversity Festival, a three-day event featuring live music, theater, cabaret, and acrobatics on three stages. However, the festival was unfortunately cancelled on Friday evening due to a terror attack in the city.

Despite the cancellation, some activities are still happening online. The international Culture and Environment Festival "Life Needs Diversity" will be presented on the main street during the Diversity Festival, albeit in a virtual format.

One such activity is the special offering for children at the "MITTEndrin" event. Organized by the Caritas association, this event will take place at or in front of the "MITTEndrin" office, Hauptstraße 56, on Sunday, August 25th, from 13.00 to 15.00. Interested parties, children, and youth can suggest locations for more city center greenery and even paint wooden cubes, each color representing a city function (red for housing, green for greenery, blue for gastronomy, and yellow for retail). The painted wooden cubes serve as a visual representation of a city center's functions, and the results of the child-led greenery suggestions will be used in the urban greenery concept.

The activity for children does not involve any advertisements, and the painted wooden cubes will be incorporated into a colorful cube that represents a lively city center.

For those who wish to discuss city development planning, the city development planning team and the city center management will be available for discussions at the "MITTEndrin" office on Saturday from 11.00 to 16.00.

Retailers and restaurants in Solingen's city center will be open on Sunday, August 25th, from 13.00 to 18.00. A walkable LKW plane displaying an aerial view of the city center will be at the festival entrance, providing a glimpse of the city center that the Diversity Festival aimed to celebrate.

While the physical festival has been cancelled, the spirit of diversity and community in Solingen continues to thrive, and we look forward to the resumption of these activities in the future.
