Federal Police in Kempten Crack Down on Cross-Border Crimes and Administrative Offences

The Bundespolizeiinspektion Kempten, responsible for protecting against cross-border crime and irregular migration, has been active in recent weeks, executing several arrest warrants and collecting thousands of euros in outstanding fines.

Last weekend, the Federal Police made four arrests in Munich. A 46-year-old Polish passenger from Bregenz was arrested at Lindau-Reutin train station for theft and fraud, while a Romanian man was apprehended on a warrant in a Eurocity train (ZĂźrich-Munich) at the same station.

The Polish passenger managed to avoid imprisonment by paying an outstanding fine of over 700 euros, while the Romanian man avoided a five-day imprisonment by paying a 300 euro fine.

In a separate incident, a 40-year-old Moldovan truck driver was arrested at the HĂśrbranz border crossing for forgery of official documents. A fake driver's license was found on the Moldovan during a police check near Bad Feilnbach in early 2020.

Meanwhile, the Federal Police Inspection Kempten also arrested a 46-year-old man on Sunday in the Eurocity train, who had been wanted since April by the Bayreuth public prosecutor's office for a violation of the Administrative Offences Act.

The Bundespolizeiinspektion Kempten's area of responsibility includes the districts of Landsberg am Lech, Lindau, Ostallgäu, Oberallgäu, Unterallgäu, and Weilheim-Schongau, as well as the independent cities of Kaufbeuren, Kempten, and Memmingen. The organisation also has districts in Weilheim and Lindau.

The Federal Police ensures the safety of rail traffic and passengers on 560 kilometers of track and 91 stations. In addition, the Bundespolizeiinspektion Kempten is responsible for 220 kilometers of the Schengen internal border with Austria.

During the same period, over 1,700 euros in outstanding fines were collected by the Federal Police. In a separate case, a 27-year-old Italian man was arrested at Lindau-Reutin train station for theft. The Italian man had stolen and damaged a motorcycle in Nuremberg in August 2023 with an accomplice. He was sentenced to imprisonment in Kempten prison due to his inability to pay a 3,000 euro fine.
