Weekly Q&A Session
The author is taking a break next week and will not be publishing new blog posts. However, before stepping away, they'd like to share some insights about their capsule wardrobe and the transition from winter to spring.
As the days grow longer and warmer, the author begins to feel the change in the air. Around the middle of February this year, they started to switch their closet, ready to welcome the spring season. But it's not an overnight transformation. Instead, the author prefers a gradual change, not all at once.
When pulling pieces from storage, the author gravitates towards the clothes that are speaking to them the most. This season, a few short sleeves made their way out, ready to mix with the author's cold weather wardrobe. To add extra warmth to their spring capsule, base layers, wool socks, and a beanie come in handy.
The author's capsule wardrobe is carefully curated, with brands like Patagonia, Arc'teryx, and Uniqlo forming the base for warmth layers in variable weather conditions. Despite the arrival of spring, the author keeps cold weather pieces in their closet, thanks to chilly AC. Even during spring, these essentials remain, ensuring the author is prepared for any unexpected weather swings.
The author uses a garment rack to hold cold weather clothes that are headed into storage, but not yet. A couple of sweaters and boots remain on the rack as "in-between" pieces, should the weather take a turn again. About a week later, the author puts a few of their bulkier sweaters into storage, making room for spring essentials.
The author's spring capsule wardrobe is versatile, handling weather ranging from freezing to 95 degrees. If the author needs rain boots or a coat at the beginning of spring, they will grab them without hesitation. The author does the majority of the switching between winter and spring clothes at the beginning of March.
The author's spring capsule wardrobe series has concluded, but fear not, once the author returns from their trip to Santa Fe with their husband for some rest and relaxation, they plan to showcase outfits made with their spring capsule. The author saves most of their sleeveless tops and dresses for the summer, but with the right layering, they could be used in spring too.
The author doesn't consider adding necessary items during weather swings as cheating. After all, the essence of a capsule wardrobe is about having a versatile, practical, and personal collection of clothes that cater to one's lifestyle and needs.
