Weekly Report on Speed Control Operations by Reutlingen Police Headquarters in Counties of Reutlingen, Esslingen, Tübingen, and Zollnalb District, between August 5 to August 10
The Police Headquarters Reutlingen, in close collaboration with local authorities in the districts of Reutlingen, Esslingen, Tübingen, and Zollernalb, recently conducted a speed control week. The focus was on accident-prone routes, and the results were striking.
Over 6,000 speeding offenses were recorded during the week. The majority of these violations were detected by light barrier measuring devices and measuring trailers. Approximately 360 drivers were measured with laser hand measuring devices and immediately confronted with the speeding offense.
Unfortunately, 40 drivers were so fast that they face a driving ban. One of the most notable cases involved a 21-year-old driver of an Alfa Romeo, who was measured at 147 km/h on the B10 at Wernau, where the speed limit is 80 km/h. This driver will now face a two-month driving ban and a substantial fine of around 600 euros.
Most of the offenses were in the warning range, but around 960 drivers can expect a fine and points in Flensburg. It's important to note that excessive speed was a contributing factor in nearly a quarter of fatal traffic accidents last year in the area of responsibility of the Police Headquarters Reutlingen.
The speed control week aims not only to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding but also to sustainably reduce the speed level. The controls will continue with this objective in mind.
