West End entrepreneurs contribute educational resources to Patrick Henry students

Alexandria, VA - This weekend promises a vibrant mix of events and entertainment options for residents and visitors alike. The city is currently hosting the Alexandria Summer Restaurant Week, offering a chance to indulge in delicious cuisines from various eateries.

Two West End businesses, Movement in Science and D1 Training Alexandria, have shown their commitment to education and empowerment by donating school supplies to Patrick Henry K-8 School. The donated school supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, and other classroom essentials, were delivered to the school on Thursday afternoon with the support of the West End Business Association (WEBA).

Tom Fukuda, owner of D1 Training, stated that the initiative reflects their broader mission to help kids build strength and confidence. Kendra Pena-Collazo, owner of Movement in Science, echoed similar sentiments, mentioning that the donation was part of her business's commitment to education and empowerment.

Alexandria School Board member Donna Kenley received the donated school supplies along with Principal Kenard Robinson.

For those seeking entertainment, there are numerous options available. Chris Timbers will be performing at 219 Restaurant, while DJ Dom will be spinning tunes at the Alexandria Bier Garden. Tory Grace will entertain guests at Augie's Mussel House & Beer Garden, and the Timmie Metz Band will be performing at Blackwall Hitch.

If live music is not your preference, there are other options available. PopRocks Duo will be performing at Daniel O'Connell's, and live music will be available at Hops N Shine. The Satin Doll Quartet will be performing at Laporta's Restaurant, and Andrew Young will be playing at Lost Boy Cider. Mesfin & Tsehay will be performing at Makeda Restaurant, Rocky Guttmann at Murphy's Grand Irish Pub, Tennessee Frisky at O'Shaughnessy's Pub, and there will be karaoke at Rock It Grill.

For those who prefer a quieter evening, The Study at Morrison House will offer live piano music.
