"West Lorne community stirs in response to ongoing death investigation"
In the peaceful town of West Lorne, a sense of unease has settled among residents following a recent disturbance and a subsequent death investigation. The tranquillity of Mary Street was disrupted on Tuesday afternoon, when emergency responders arrived at a century-old home situated on a wide lot filled with trees, long grass, and overgrown bushes in the 200 block.
Upon arrival, police officers put up yellow crime scene tape around the property, signalling the start of a thorough investigation. As the investigation progressed, detectives went door-to-door, asking neighbours questions.
The night before the police arrived, a disturbance complaint was reportedly made. Neighbours reported that the man, believed to be in his 50s, who lived in the residence with at least two large dogs, could be heard yelling frequently and his dogs barked for hours.
One neighbour, Lawley, stated that the incident has thrown the neighbourhood off and has shaken the community. Lawley also mentioned that West Lorne is a small town where unusual events occur that wouldn't happen in a typical 1,200-person town. Another neighbour, Johnson, expressed love for living in West Lorne but also mentioned that strange things happen in the area.
Neighbours reported seeing a deceased person being removed from the property. The children of Joe Johnson witnessed this removal, which occurred from the side of the house and was put in an SUV. Later that same evening, a running pickup truck was noted in the driveway of the home.
Despite efforts, there is no publicly available information about who lived or lives in the century-old house on the 200 block of Mary Street that is being investigated by OPP officers. The quiet of Mary Street was disrupted until police arrived the next day, and the investigation continues.
As the community waits for updates, the incident has left a lasting impression on the usually peaceful town of West Lorne. Residents hope for a swift resolution and a return to normalcy.
