Atlanta Dream Continue Impressive Run with Win Over Connecticut Sun

The Atlanta Dream continued their impressive form, extending their winning streak to 5 out of their last 6 games with a 86-75 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night.

In a match-up between two teams already eliminated from playoff contention, it was Tina Charles who led Connecticut with 19 points, going 8 for 13 from the field. However, it was not enough to prevent the Sun from dropping to 4-17 on the road this season.

For the Dream, Brionna Jones posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, marking her 12th such performance of the season. Kamilla Cardoso added 16 points for Chicago, while Angel Reese contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds for her 23rd double-double this season.

The Dream's victory propels them into sole possession of second place in the WNBA standings, half a game ahead of Las Vegas and Phoenix. If Atlanta were to remain undefeated for the rest of the 2025 WNBA season, they would surpass the Minnesota Lynx, who finished with a 34-10 record, and take the top spot in the standings. Currently, the Lynx hold the No. 1 seed with 34 wins, while the Dream ended with 30 wins.

The Dream's success was evident from the opening tip-off, as Chicago scored the first eight points and led throughout. They improved to 6-15 at home with the win, ending a four-game losing streak with an 88-64 victory.

Jordin Canada recorded her first double-double this season with 10 points and 10 assists, while Rhyne Howard scored 19 points in the game. Chicago shot 51.7% from the field in the first half and 11 of 13 at the free-throw line.

The Dream will play a two-game series with Connecticut to end the season, with their next match against Los Angeles on Friday. The Sparks, who trail Indiana by a game and a half for the 8th and final playoff spot, will be looking to bounce back from their loss to Atlanta.
