Wolves Secure β¬27 Million Agreement with Nigerian Forward, Tolu Arokodare
Wolverhampton Wanderers Announce Agreement for β¬27 Million Signing of Top Scorer Tolu Arokodare
Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that they are set to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Genk, subject to the completion of his medical and the finalization of the transfer. The transfer fee for the 23-year-old is reported to be β¬27 million.
Arokodare, who began his European journey in Latvia before stints in France and Belgium, had a sensational 2023/24 season with Genk, finishing as the Belgian Pro League's top scorer with 23 goals and seven assists in 45 appearances. This impressive performance has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.
However, his playing time was limited at Genk this season due to speculation over his future. AC Milan considered him as a backup option after struggling to secure Sporting CP's Conrad Harder.
The agreement for Arokodare's transfer was announced by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on X. Negotiations with Wolves moved quickly, and the medical for the transfer is scheduled for August 30.
Dimitri De CondeΜ, Genk's sporting director, openly admitted that Arokodare's departure from Genk was "99 per cent certain." He had previously stated that the forward was "very well in the market and ready to take the next step."
The transfer of Arokodare to Wolves is considered a major attacking boost for the club. If completed, he will join as one of the club's headline summer signings.
Coach Thorsten Fink, who is currently in charge of KRC Genk, was involved in the negotiations with Wolverhampton Wanderers over the transfer of Arokodare. However, the sports director of Genk involved in the negotiations is not explicitly named in the available search results.
Arokodare's arrival at Wolves will mark his first Premier League experience, and he is expected to bring his goalscoring prowess to the English top-flight. The Lagos-born striker has largely featured from the bench in just five games so far this season at Genk.
Wolves fans will be eagerly awaiting the completion of Arokodare's medical and the finalization of the transfer, as they eagerly anticipate the start of the new season with their club's latest signing.
