In an unexpected turn of events, a man identified as Charles Burgess, aged 32, from Dayton, OH, has been charged with multiple offenses following an incident during a WNBA game between the New York Liberty and Dallas Wings on August 5, 2025, at the Barclays Center.

The charges against Burgess include criminal possession of a weapon, attempted second-degree assault, and a host of other offenses such as assault in the third degree (two counts), menacing in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, obscenity in the third degree, interference with a professional sporting event, harassment in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

The alleged weapon in question is a green dildo, approximately 14 inches long, which was thrown onto the hardwood during the game. Unfortunately, a 12-year-old girl was struck by the dildo during the incident. As of now, there is no publicly available information regarding any charges, penalties, or court dates for Burgess related to this incident.

It's important to note that this is not the first time the dildo has been implicated in a sticky situation, though no further details about the previous incident have been disclosed.

Clay Travis, a notable figure on Twitter, tweeted that Burgess was charged with two counts of assault. However, the New York Police Department has confirmed a total of ten charges against Burgess.

Burgess was initially on the run from authorities until he turned himself in on an unspecified date. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear in court in December.
