Women's self-esteem empowerment program commencement set for September

The city of Lünen, in collaboration with the Dortmund Police Presidency, is offering a free women's self-defense course starting on 22 September 2025. This ten-week course, consisting of two-hour sessions, aims to empower women through self-assertion and self-defense.

Interested participants can register by emailing Frauenbuero@ourwebsite or calling 02306 104-1350. Registration is open until 15 September.

Over the course of ten sessions, participants will learn a variety of basic self-defense techniques. Officers from the Criminal Commissariat will also provide insights into police work and when to seek help. Instructors will share knowledge on offender behavior and crime scenes, reinforcing the concepts taught through role-plays and video analyses.

The course will cover essential topics such as victim-offender relationships, self-defense aids, and the right to self-defense. Additionally, exercises on confident body language, voice projection, and setting boundaries will be conducted to help participants feel more secure in various situations.

The sessions will take place at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen (Kuemperheide 2) and at two sessions in the gymnasium of the Heinrich-Bußmann-Schule (access via Süggelstraße). Meetings will take place from 6 to 8 PM, with sessions scheduled for 22 September, 29 September, 6 October, 27 October, 3 November, 10 November, 17 November, 24 November, 1 December, and 8 December 2025.
