President Tokayev Celebrates Kazakhstan's Oil and Gas Industry Professionals

In a ceremony held at Akorda, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry workers and veterans on their professional holiday. Tokayev recognised a group of professionals who made outstanding contributions to the development of the sector, awarding them state honors.

Tokayev highlighted the historical significance and continued importance of the oil and gas industry, which has played a crucial role in Kazakhstan's economic development for over a century. 2024 marks 125 years since the start of Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry, a topic of active discussion worldwide.

The future of the industry is undergoing rapid transformation, according to Tokayev, with the global energy landscape undergoing significant changes. To stay competitive, Tokayev emphasized the need for Kazakhstan to embrace innovation and technological modernization.

One of the key priorities for Kazakhstan, as per Tokayev, is technological modernization. Modern technologies are intended to optimize extraction, transportation, and refining processes in Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry. Integration of artificial intelligence solutions is a part of Kazakhstan's technological modernization, as mentioned by Tokayev.

The oil and gas industry's milestones in 2025 include 80 years since the commissioning of the Atyrau Oil Refinery, 40 years since the establishment of the Shymkent Oil Refinery, and 25 years since the founding of QazaqGaz, the national gas company. Many labor dynasties have helped shape Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry, with their dedication and long-term service in the sector being recognised during the ceremony.

Tokayev reiterated the strategic importance of the oil and gas sector for Kazakhstan, emphasizing its historical significance and continued importance in the country's economic development. He also emphasized the need to preserve and build upon the industry's rich legacy while embracing the challenges and opportunities of the future.
