World's Quickest Electric Vehicle: BYD's 3000 Horsepower Hypercar Smashes Speed Record, Hitting 293.5 MPH

China's high-end sub-brand, Yangwang, has unveiled an electric hypercar that's turning heads in the automotive world. The U9 Track Edition has made a name for itself by setting a new world record for electric vehicle speed.

The U9 Track Edition is a quad-motor powerhouse, delivering a staggering 2,958 horsepower. This makes it one of the most powerful vehicles on the planet, outperforming many combustion-engine rivals and other high-speed EVs, including the Aspark Owl and the Rimac Nevera. With a top speed of nearly 294 miles per hour, it is approaching the 300-mph barrier for electric vehicles.

The secret to the U9 Track Edition's impressive performance lies in its advanced technology. The high-voltage system combined with an advanced thermal-management setup allows the car to handle massive power output while keeping components safe from overheating. The U9 Track Edition utilizes a 1,200-volt ultra-high-voltage platform, which is the world's first mass-produced.

For track performance, the company has upgraded the software's "body posture control," allowing each wheel to adjust independently for perfect handling. A torque-vectoring system works alongside this, making adjustments 100 times per second to prevent wheel slip and maintain traction at high speeds.

The U9 Track Edition also boasts impressive technology in its tires. It collaborated with Giti Tire to develop semi-slick tires specifically for the Track Edition, featuring a custom tread design and optimized compound.

The U9 Track Edition includes Yangwang's DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System, enabling extreme maneuvers such as hopping or driving on three wheels. It's not just about speed, though. The U9 Track Edition builds on the standard U9 platform with key upgrades, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride even at top speeds.

The U9 Track Edition set its record on August 8 in Germany, breaking the previous record held by the Aspark Owl, which reached 272.6 miles per hour. The U9 Track Edition's record puts it in a league of its own, showcasing the potential of electric vehicles in the world of high-performance racing.

The Yangwang U9 Track Edition is more than just a fast car. It's a testament to the advancements in electric vehicle technology and a glimpse into the future of high-speed racing.
