World's Spotlight Shines on UAE's Epic Falconry Tradition at ADIHEX 2025

In the heart of Abu Dhabi, the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) has become a global hub for falconry enthusiasts. Organised by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Emirates Falconers’ Club, this year's event, ADIHEX 2025, has witnessed a remarkable increase in participation from falcon farms worldwide.

Balaram Menon, a Senior Web Editor with over two decades of experience, reported on the event, noting that it was a celebration of the UAE’s cultural heritage. The exhibition featured leading UAE falcon farms like KH Falcons, Alsarami Falcon, and AD Falcons, showcasing their finest birds.

GYR Falcon, based in Al Ain, has been an active player since 2001. Their collection includes falcons from local breeds as well as imported ones from Europe, specifically Germany, Austria, the UK, Holland, Poland, and Slovakia. Falcon importers like Al Shahin Gold source falcon eggs from Spain, the UK, and the US and bring young falcons to the UAE at three to four months of age to adapt to local conditions.

The UAE's leadership in preserving falconry is evident in the growth at ADIHEX. Emirati falconers view the exhibition not just as a trading platform, but as a means to preserve their heritage. Falconry, an ancient tradition in the UAE, is considered a symbol of the country's national identity.

ADIHEX offers visitors more than a display of rare birds. It provides an opportunity to witness a living tradition that connects past and present, showcasing the UAE’s enduring bond with its cultural roots. The prices of falcons at ADIHEX vary significantly, with male Saqr and Green Peregrine falcons selling for around Dh5,000, while rare Ultrawhite falcons from North America and the UK can fetch more than Dh1 million.

Weekly falcon auctions take place at ADIHEX, attracting buyers and sellers interested in both commerce and culture. Training for falcons at the event typically costs around Dh2,000. GYR Falcon has already sold 25 birds during the exhibition, including seven Emirati breeds.

As the event comes to a close, it's clear that ADIHEX 2025 has reinforced the UAE's commitment to preserving its falconry heritage. The exhibition serves as a testament to the country's rich cultural history and its dedication to sharing this tradition with the world.
