Wreck on A5 highway rectified, traffic resumes normally

The A5 towards Karlsruhe, which was closed due to an accident near Freiburg-SΓΌd, has now fully reopened. The incident occurred on August 31, 2025, approximately one kilometer after the Freiburg-South exit.

Traffic was diverted past the accident site for around 45 minutes while emergency services responded and cleared the scene. The accident resulted in a vehicle flipping over and ending up in a ditch.

Reports indicate that a 72-year-old man was driving his car on the A5 near Freiburg-SΓΌd when he veered off to the right, overturned, and ended up in a ditch. The man was injured but not seriously and was taken to a local hospital. As of current information, the extent of his injuries is not specified.

The vehicle involved in the accident was completely destroyed and had to be towed away. Fortunately, no other vehicles were reportedly involved in the incident.

Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the man losing control of his vehicle and veering off the road. The A5 towards Karlsruhe has since been fully reopened following the accident and subsequent clean-up.
