In the vibrant city of Wuppertal, a unique school cycling event has come to a successful close, with a total of 110,858 kilometers being cycled by students and staff across various schools. This impressive feat was part of a collective goal set by Wuppertal, Remscheid, and Solingen, aiming for one million kilometers cycled this year.

The event, which saw the participation of 42 schools, including LVR-Förderschool, Schule am Nordpark, and Ulle-Hees-Schule, was marked by a festive occasion at Barmen Town Hall. The most active school, LVR-Förderschool Wuppertal, was awarded a trophy, and the students were treated to a joint lunch.

Numerous associations and initiatives, such as the Cargo Bike Roadshow, "Mystery Cycling" event, and the "Tasty Ice Cream Tour," contributed to the event's success. Bakery Steinbrink offered breakfast and snacks along the cycling route, while Policks Bakery and Pedalero Bike Shop provided gifts for the award ceremony.

The secondary schools category saw active participation from LVR-Förderschool Wuppertal, Gymnasium Bayreuther Straße, and Gymnasium Vohwinkel. Meanwhile, Grundschule Echoer Straße, Grundschule Friedhofstraße, and Grundschule Sillerstraße were recognised as particularly active cycling teams in the primary schools category.

Team Emmaus and Wuppervital were recognised as particularly active initiatives, while the Integrative Waldorf Kindergarten, Kita/DB, and Pudelmütze were honoured as the most active kindergartens. Feldhaus Family and Friends, Wichelkruser, and "We are family" were also recognised for their active involvement.

The Pedalero Bike Shop, Solventum Cycling Team, and Cox Tree Care were recognised as the most active cycling teams in the companies category. Akzenta Barmen supported the kick-off event.

The city administration will review the tips received through the "RADar!" reporting platform during the cycling campaign and provide feedback. A total of 84 tips were received, highlighting potential areas for improvement and safety concerns.

Despite the event's conclusion, citizens can continue to submit reports throughout the year via www.radar-online.net using their "Stadtradeln" login credentials. The city administration remains committed to promoting cycling and ensuring a safe cycling environment for all.

Wuppertal, in particular, cycled 573,077 kilometers out of the total 1,052,921 kilometers cycled during the campaign. This significant contribution underscores the city's commitment to promoting sustainable and active transportation.

Leon Riemer and Susanne Varnhorst from the city presented the trophy, marking the end of a successful school cycling campaign. As the summer holidays approach, the city of Wuppertal looks forward to continuing its efforts to promote cycling and foster a healthier, more sustainable community.
