In a potential shift for the Peach State, North Carolina's successful foray into legal sports betting has sparked interest among industry heavyweights, with Georgia being seen as a promising ground for similar financial gains and a reduction in unregulated offshore betting.
One such company eager to tap into Georgia's potential is Boyd Gaming. The company reported earnings of over $1 billion in the last quarter alone, and it has expressed a keen interest in Georgia's burgeoning casino market.
Wynn Resorts, another major player in the gaming industry, has shown a serious interest in developing a casino resort in Georgia, should the state choose to legalise gambling. Wynn's potential project could involve a multibillion-dollar investment, while Boyd Gaming has expressed a desire to enter the Georgia market if the constitutional ban on gambling is lifted, although specific investment sizes have not been disclosed.
The future of casino gaming in Georgia remains uncertain, but potential locations for casino projects have been suggested. Rick Lackey, a property adviser, has proposed Midtown, Downtown Atlanta, areas near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Savannah, and North Georgia as potential sites for these projects.
However, legal obstacles remain significant in growing gambling in Georgia. Past attempts, including ones in 2018 and this year, have not reached a vote. Rep.
