Xbox PC application introduces coveted enhancements for gamers' delight, arriving synchronously with the Xbox Ally X launch
In a significant move, Microsoft has been enhancing its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service, making it more accessible and versatile for gamers worldwide.
The service, which allows playing day one Xbox games on various platforms including consoles, PC, and cloud-based devices, has grown this year. Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream over 250 games to supported devices, including the Xbox PC app. Notably, the Stream your own game feature is supported in 28 countries.
Microsoft has been focusing on improving the user experience. The Xbox app now sports a visually cleaner interface with improved indicators and animations. Moreover, it features controller navigation similar to a console, making navigation more intuitive for gamers. Keyboard navigation has also received an upgrade, although specifics are yet to be detailed.
A new feature, Gaming Copilot, is currently in beta and available through the Game Bar for Windows PCs. It is designed as "the ultimate gaming sidekick," according to Microsoft. However, it is currently limited to Xbox Insiders in the PC Gaming Preview.
Another interesting addition is the My apps feature, a new tab within the Xbox PC app. This tab allows you to launch apps, gaming storefronts, and game launchers directly from the library, making navigation easier for users.
The Xbox ecosystem has expanded to include various devices such as phones, TVs, and gaming handhelds, in addition to consoles. This expansion is reflected in the cross-device play history feature, which makes it easier to continue playing a game on your PC. The feature also includes cloud-playable games in the history.
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag is among the games supported for streaming. The service currently supports streaming many games through its cloud gaming feature, including new titles like Dragon Age: The Veilguard (available on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S).
Microsoft's blog post also mentions Battle.net, GOG.com, and Microsoft Edge, but Steam is notably absent from the list. Despite this, the Stream your own game feature is available for a range of gaming storefronts, making it a compelling offering for gamers.
Subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ensures never missing out on anything coming to the service. With these improvements and expansions, Microsoft is making a strong push towards becoming a dominant force in the gaming industry.
