XYZ Company Experiences a 83% Increase in Trading After Initial Public Offering (IPO) Valued at $1.1 Billion
In a significant milestone for the digital asset sector, Bullish, a cryptocurrency trading platform, made a bullish start in its public market debut on the New York Stock Exchange. The company, led by former NYSE president Tom Farley, saw its shares surge 83% to close at $68 on the first day of trading, marking a successful return to public markets for crypto companies.
Bullish's strong performance reflects continued investor enthusiasm for digital asset platforms, despite market volatility in the sector. The company's initial public offering (IPO) raised $1.1 billion, with JP Morgan, Jefferies, and Citigroup leading the underwriting syndicate.
The performance of Bullish exceeded expectations after it priced its expanded offering at $37 per share. Trading continued strong in after-hours sessions, with shares climbing above $75 as of publication time. The stock opened at $90 and settled at $68 by market close, giving Bullish a market valuation of $9.9 billion.
Bullish's success follows a similar trend set by Circle earlier this year. Traditional financial firms are increasingly offering digital asset services, validating Bullish's positioning. The company's growth signifies continued institutional interest in cryptocurrency trading.
Bullish operates a cryptocurrency trading platform and owns CoinDesk, the crypto news site it acquired in 2023. In 2024, the company reported handling $250 billion in digital asset trades. Notable investors involved with the Bullish Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) before its public debut on February 9, 2023, included major financial firms such as Binance, WestCap, and FTX Ventures.
Looking ahead, Bullish projects net income of $106-109 million for the second quarter of 2025. BlackRock and ARK Investment Management indicated interest in purchasing up to $200 million worth of Bullish shares at the IPO price.
As Bullish continues to grow and navigate the dynamic digital asset market, it will be interesting to see how its success influences the broader crypto industry.
