Young adult eludes traffic enforcement, leading to traffic collision
In the heart of Essen, a dramatic incident unfolded on the streets of Frohnhausen on July 2nd. An 18-year-old driver, who holds dual Turkish and German citizenship, was at the wheel of a blue Ford Escort that refused to stop for a patrol team.
The chase began on Frohnhauser Straße, with the driver making several turns in an attempt to evade the officers. The Ford swerved into the oncoming lane of Schederhofstraße to pass another patrol car, potentially causing an accident with an oncoming vehicle.
The officers, undeterred, noticed the Ford shortly after the Möserstraße. They turned on their lights and sirens to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated further, ignoring the police signals.
The high-speed chase continued until the Ford ran a red light at the intersection of Kerkhoffstraße / Berliner Straße. Two innocent drivers had to brake abruptly to avoid a collision caused by the Ford. The driver also disregarded another red light at Martin-Luther-Straße, endangering other road users.
