Young resident of Ixtapa, Guerrero, a 11-year-old boy, along with his parents, fell victim to a crocodile attack
In a shocking incident that took place on April 15, 2024, an 11-year-old boy and his parents were attacked by a crocodile in Playa Linda, Zihuatanejo, Gro.
The minor, identified as a US citizen, was swimming in the sea when he was attacked in the head. Witnesses reported the incident, prompting an immediate response from Civil Protection, Red Cross, the Army, municipal police, and the local environmental and wildlife protection authority.
The authority, often affiliated with Mexico's National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO) or the state-level environmental agency in Guerrero, is responsible for investigating such incidents.
The attack occurred around 6 p.m., and the victims managed to get out of the sea and were taken to the Ixtapa Naval Hospital for treatment. The boy and his parents sustained injuries to their heads, legs, and arms.
Sadly, a video has also surfaced showing an Italian expat involved in an attack on a woman in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, raising concerns about the increasing frequency of such incidents.
It is reported that the crocodile involved in the attack was more than three meters long and was still present at the scene when reporters arrived.
Authorities are urging beachgoers to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines when swimming in the sea, especially during dusk when crocodile activity is more prevalent.
Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time, and we hope for a speedy recovery for all those involved.
