Young, unlimited Pakistani batsman smashes hundred in 56 deliveries for Shaheens during Top End T20 competition.
On Wednesday, August 20, Maaz Sadaqat made a remarkable impression in the Top End T20 series, scoring a century for Pakistan Shaheens against Adelaide Strikers Academy.
The match, the 23rd of the series, saw Sadaqat open the batting for Pakistan Shaheens alongside Yasir Khan. The pair scored 54 runs in the Powerplay without losing a wicket, giving Pakistan Shaheens a solid start.
Yasir Khan was dismissed for 51, leaving Pakistan Shaheens at 149-1 in 14 overs. However, Sadaqat continued to dominate, hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. His confident presence at the crease gave Babar Azam, Zalmi skipper, belief.
Sadaqat's century came in just 59 balls, a testament to his prowess in the shortest format of the game. He was out for 104 off 59 balls, caught and bowled by Tom O'Connell.
This was not Sadaqat's first impressive performance. He made a solid impression on his Pakistan Super League debut for Peshawar Zalmi, scoring a 30-ball half-century. Last year, he scored a quickfire 82 off 53 balls in the Champions T20 Cup in Pakistan.
Sadaqat's form in the U19 World Cup was more challenging, scoring 46 runs in six matches. However, his recent performances suggest a player on the rise.
Babar Azam, Zalmi skipper, praised Sadaqat, saying "Maaz batted brilliantly under pressure." He further credited the win to Sadaqat, stating, "His century was instrumental in our victory."
Pakistan Shaheens posted a total of 202-6 in the match, a total that proved too much for Adelaide Strikers Academy. This win is a significant boost for Pakistan Shaheens as they continue their campaign in the Top End T20 series.
Despite extensive searches, there is no available information about Maaz Sadaqat outside the cricket scene. He represented Pakistan at the 2022 U19 World Cup and continues to make a name for himself in the world of cricket. With an average of nearly 40 from 21 first-class matches, Sadaqat is a player to watch in the future.
