On July 2, 2025, the youth traffic school Saarlouis played host to an exciting event – the state final for the class best of all fourth classes who successfully completed cycling training this year. The competition, which aimed to determine the district champions, was organised by the Landesverkehrswacht Saarland, the Saarland State Police Directorate, and the head of the youth traffic school Saarlouis, Kerstin Knips.

The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Deputy Mayor Stefan Schmitt, Deputy County Commissioner Sandra Quinten, and Mayor Carsten Quirin. Mayor Markus Weber from Schwalbach was also in attendance.

The competition was not just a test of cycling skills, but also a platform to emphasise the importance of safe behaviour in road traffic. The wearing of a bicycle helmet was repeatedly emphasised as a simple and effective protective measure. Quirin, in his address, reminded that children on bicycles are particularly vulnerable in road traffic, and each exercise is therefore an important building block for accident prevention.

To mark the occasion, all participants received a special bicycle bell designed especially for the competition. Numerous prizes were awarded to the young cyclists, with the top three students from each traffic school receiving a trophy. Maik MΓΌller from the Landesverkehrswacht Saarland and Claus Eisenbeis from the traffic police were also present at the event.

The district championship of youth traffic schools took place in Saarlouis on June 24, 2025. The top two participants from each youth traffic school qualified for the state final, which was held in Neunkirchen.

The event, organised by Knips, was a testament to the commitment of the organisers towards road safety education and the nurturing of responsible young cyclists. It was a day filled with excitement, learning, and the spirit of friendly competition, setting a positive tone for the future of road safety in the Saarland region.
