Zero-emission buses scheduled for delivery by Solaris in Malmö, numbering 180 units.
In a significant step towards sustainable public transport, Nobina Sverige AB, one of the largest public transport companies in Scandinavia, has placed an order for 180 zero-emission Solaris buses. These buses will be operated in Malmö, Sweden.
Solaris, a leading manufacturer in zero-emission transport, is continuing its cooperation with Nobina. The delivery of these 180 buses is scheduled to be completed between 2026 and 2027.
The order includes a variety of bus lengths: 12, 15, 18, and 24 metres. It comprises 78 articulated Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses, each with a battery capacity of 600 kWh. Additionally, there is one Solaris Urbino 12 electric bus with a total battery capacity of 400 kWh, and 65 low-entry Urbino 15 LE electric buses, each with a battery capacity of 500 kWh.
The order also includes 36 Solaris Urbino 24 electric buses, each with a battery capacity of 700 kWh. These larger buses will serve both urban and suburban routes in Malmö. The smaller Urbino 12 and 15 buses will also be used for similar purposes.
Nobina Sverige's commitment to sustainability is evident in this order. The buses will contribute to Malmö's goal of becoming a fossil fuel-free city by 2030.
Solaris has signed a contract for the delivery of these complete vehicles, which will help to further strengthen the partnership between the two companies. The buses will be a welcome addition to Malmö's public transport fleet, providing a cleaner and more efficient means of transportation for its residents.
This order marks a significant milestone in Nobina's and Solaris's joint mission to promote zero-emission transport in Sweden. It is a testament to their shared commitment to creating a more sustainable future for public transport.
