Car theft reported by Polish police
In the past few days, several incidents and accidents have been reported across Southwest Germany, involving vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
In Tübingen, a tragic incident occurred when a Mazda collided with an e-bike rider, resulting in severe injuries for the 73-year-old cyclist. The rider, who was holding her smartphone, failed to notice the oncoming Mazda and collided with the left exterior mirror. The driver of the Mazda, a 61-year-old, had no chance to react to the collision. The Tübingen police have initiated investigations and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
In a separate incident, unknown persons broke into a garden shed in Reutlingen's allotment garden complex on Sickenhäuser Straße on Sunday. A witness spotted two suspicious men in the complex at around 7:00 pm and alerted the police. The suspect involved in the break-in wore a white 3/4 pants, a dark sweatshirt, dark pants, had a tattoo on the left shin, and carried a blue cooler bag. This description matches that of the suspects involved in a theft at a location in Goethestraße, Tübingen, where a white Fiat 500 was stolen between August 2, 2025, and Monday, 7:15 AM. The stolen vehicle has the official license plate TÜ-GS 1230.
Elsewhere in Reutlingen-West, the Reutlingen police station has taken over the investigation of a break-in at garden houses, where spirits were targeted and stolen. The public appeal for information has been discontinued following identification.
In Esslingen, the traffic police are looking for witnesses to a traffic accident that occurred on Monday morning at the intersection of Stuttgarter Straße / Uhlandstraße in the Pliensauvorstadt district. A 79-year-old man was driving his Mercedes A-Class and collided with a pedestrian who was crossing Stuttgarten Straße at a green light. The pedestrian, a 37-year-old woman, was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. The estimated property damage is around 3,000 euros. The traffic police are looking for witnesses who can provide information about the traffic light signal for vehicle traffic on Stuttgarten Straße.
In Grafenberg, a 17-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Bergstraße on Monday morning.
In a more distressing development, a 67-year-old missing person from Beuren was found dead by Bavarian police. There is no indication of foul play in the death.
Lastly, in the rugged, high-altitude terrain near Oberstdorf, a death occurred during search operations. The circumstances surrounding this incident are not yet clear.
These incidents serve as a reminder for everyone to stay vigilant and to prioritise safety on the roads and in public spaces.
